For many years, I’ve had an inflamed gut.

I’ve spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours trying to get to the bottom of it, along with learning techniques to support my microbiome. It’s been a long drawn-out process that’s required me to radically change my diet and lifestyle choices, lower my cortisol levels, and introduce mindfulness techniques.

Apart of that has been adding two breathing exercises before and after I eat. Both have helped enormously and saved me from hours of pain and discomfort.

Unfortunately, I know I’m not alone in this journey. Many people are also experiencing gut problems so that’s why I’m so passionate about sharing my experience and exchanging knowledge.

The short and crux of it is this: we must breathe slower.

Slow deep breathing invites more oxygen into the body which helps to release digestive enzymes. It also increases saliva production, enhances gastric motility, improves blood flow to digestive organs, and regulates stomach acid production so naturally everything runs more smoothly.

As with all breathing exercises, this one is easy to do. So, before your next meal, give this simple technique a try (and let me know how you get on!)
