Desmund Tutu once said: “Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”
Doing good is not always that easy though. Some days it’s hard to do right by myself let alone others. On those days I try and soften, forgive myself, and take it slow.
Doing good can simply be weathering the storm long enough to experience hope.
“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” - Desmund Tutu
Some say hope is a beggar. I personally disagree.
Hope is a part of the human experience and it can keep a fire burning inside when all else fades away. Over time, this hope can become trust and this trust can become belief.
With even more time, these qualities can heal the world. That's when the magic can happen.
Coming back to Desmund Tutu’s words at the top, I’d like to leave you with a question - what good can I do today?
At times, that might be taking a deep breath in, noticing a flower in the garden or feeling the wind on your skin. At other times it might look more like saying “I’m sorry.”
Whatever it might be there is no right or wrong way. There is only doing the best we can in each moment and trusting that they’ll add up to make a small difference. However, I believe that if everyone’s doing this each corner of the world can become that little bit better.
“We are made for goodness. We are made for love. We are made for friendliness. We are made for togetherness. We are made for all of the beautiful things that you and I know. We are made to tell the world that there are no outsiders. All are welcome: black, white, red, yellow, rich, poor, educated, not educated, male, female, gay, straight, all, all, all. We all belong to this family, this human family, God's family.” - Desmund Tutu
Love is the answer :D
